How to Set Up the TikFinity Minecraft Plugin on DNSworld Servers

As a content creator, hosting your own server for community events and games is a great way to boost engagement and allow viewers to play alongside you. In this guide, we'll show you how to easily install the TikFinity plugin, “ServerTap,” which enables viewers on your TikTok streams to interact with your game in real time to enhance both engagement and fun to your content.

Before Starting

Here are a few things to consider before setting up TikFinity's plugin on your DNSworld server.

You will need to ensure you have TikFinity Installed on your computer

Download TikFinity Desktop App (opens in a new tab), if you haven't already.

If you don't already have a DNSworld account, Create an Account Hereand create a Minecraft Server. ** Ensure your server is running on Java 17 as this is the only Java version that works with TikFinity at this time.

Changing the Minecraft Version to run on Java 17

You can change your server's Minecraft version in the Startup menu.

If you want to run the most recent Minecraft version compatible with this version of Java, set the Minecraft version to 1.19.2 and the build number to 1.19.2-307.

Next, go to the Files menu and delete all folders and files. After that, open the Settings menu and click Reinstall Server. This will automatically begin the installation process.

Once the initial installation is complete, press Start to run the server.

Note: The server will stop automatically after uploading the EULA file.

To accept the EULA, return to the Files menu, open the eula.txt file, and change: eula=false to eula=true. Then click Save Content at the bottom right of the screen.

Finally, go back to the Console and press Start again. Your server will finish installing and be ready to use!

Plugin Setup

Before setting up TikFinity with your DNSworld Minecraft server, you need to have ServerTap installed. ServerTap is required for TikFinity to communicate with your Minecraft server.

We install the Paper version of Minecraft by default but if any issues arise during the setup installation please follow this detailed video tutorial for the steps required before downloading the ServerTap plugin: Official Complete TikFinity TikTok LIVE Tutorial (opens in a new tab)

Download the latest version of ServerTap

As of this guide's launch, the latest version is v0.5.4.

Go to the GitHub release page linked below and download the file named ServerTap-0.5.4-SNAPSHOT.jar under the Assets section. Save it to your computer for easy access. ServerTap Download (opens in a new tab)

Configure the ServerTap File

On the top ribbon, click on the Network tab to view your server's IP address and Port. You will see a Primary IP Address and Port (used to connect to your Minecraft server) and a Secondary IP Address and Port. Copy the Secondary IP Address and Port, then go to the Plugin folder.

Inside the ServerTap folder, open the config.yml file and update the Port value with your five-digit port. Finally, replace the default key change_me with a new secure key to protect your server. For good measure, restart the server once more to ensure changes were implemented.
